Dr. W. B. Lewis, Pastor

Fayetteville Street Baptist Church and First Cosmopolitan Baptist Church have both been blessed with outstanding leadership. In March of 1964, God sent us our present Pastor, Dr. W. B. Lewis.

Dr. Lewis is married to Mrs. Lillie H. Lewis and the father of two children. His educational background includes; An A. B. Master of Divinity from Shaw Divinity School and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from St. Mary's Seminary and University, Baltimore, Maryland. Active in local, State and National Organizations, this sought after speaker and "man of God" is past President and member of the Executive Board , the Executive Committee, and the Constitution Committee of the General Baptist State Convention. In the National Baptist Convention, USA, he has served as a member of the Home Mission Board, the Executive Board and the Executive Board of the Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Missionary Convention.

Dr. Lewis has also served as President of the Raleigh Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance, and as a member of the Raleigh Interracial Ministerial Association, YMCA Board of Directors, State Board of Chaplain and the Board of Directors for Rich Park. He is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, the Board of Trustees at Shaw Divinity School and Co-Editor of the SEMINARIAN, the Divinity School Newspaper.

With Dr. Lewis's leadership, First Cosmopolitan has established itself as a leader of Christian activity in the Community and around the State. Local and State officials constantly seek his wisdom and advice, and yet he is always available to address the needs and concerns of the members of his congregation. His teachings, example and compassion for his fellow man has served to take our beliefs to new heights, and the sermon he lives is as outstanding as the ones he preaches.
